After the Chesnaye family experienced a family tragedy they don’t want to specify earlier this December, Paul Chesnaye decided to cheer up his daughter Lucy by… preparing tiny Christmas presents for neighbourhood squirrels. The family lives on the outskirts of London where the woodland creatures are frequent visitors. “We had some Brazil nuts, some peanuts, almonds, and cashews,” Paul told BuzzFeed. “They got a real selection so it was a special Christmas present!.” The kindhearted dad also made sure to wrap up the nuts in a festive paper and make it a proper Christmas gift.

Lucy shared the pictures of squirrels opening up their presents on Twitter, and it went viral. “I find it really funny and I never expected so many people to see it.”

Her dad added that the attention from the internet community has brightened up his family’s Christmas. Paul commented: “My daughter said the reaction to her tweet has been incredible, but this is all new to me… My family is used to me being a bit nutty at times.”
